DFM checklist for CNC turned brass parts

Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is crucial when designing CNC turned brass parts. A few simple drawing adjustments can significantly reduce machining time and cost without sacrificing functionality.

1. Avoid Sharp Internal Corners

CNC cutting tools are round. Designing sharp internal corners requires specialized tools or processes like EDM, driving up costs. Always specify an internal radius where possible.

2. Standardize Threads

Use standard thread sizes (Metric, BSP, NPT) instead of custom profiles. Standard threads can be cut using standard taps and dies, which are readily available in our facility at Blessing Metal India.

3. Minimize Setups

Design parts that can be machined from a single setup if possible. At Blessing Metal India, our multi-axis CNC turn-mill centers can handle complex geometries, but minimizing setups always optimizes production.

Our engineering team provides comprehensive DFM feedback on every RFQ to help you optimize your designs for production.
